It was one of those summers when everything changed. He knew that he was never supposed to see his father in quite the same way again. And he knew he shouldn’t stay friends with Coogan because he now saw how he really was.
But in the end, Simms didn’t change. He didn’t allow himself to respect his father’s actions, and he and Coogan would be friends until Coogan was shot in a bar by a pregnant ex-girlfriend. Because when it came down to it, Simms was just as vacuous, shallow, and egotistical as he had been before it all happened.
